The Compass School Preschool and Education Guide 2017

July 26, 2017

At the Compass School, we firmly believe that our child-centered philosophy, outstanding teachers, and unparalleled level of communication will provide you and your child with the best possible early education and child care experience.

Our Reggio-Inspired approach is grounded in a strong image of the child. We view each child as powerful, unique and capable. We value their thoughts, interests, imagination and enthusiasm. The role of the teacher is to co-navigate the learning journey while provoking ideas, problem-solving, encouraging dialogue and sharing educational experiences alongside the children. We embrace the connection between home and school and the community. We recognize the important role that our learning environment plays as the “third teacher.”

Our website is designed to provide an overview of our innovative, project-based curriculum as well as our welcoming, state-of-the-art learning environment. More importantly, we invite you to schedule a tour of our school, meet our excellent team of educators, and witness our wonderful programs “in action.”

Philosophy
The Reggio Emilia philosophy was developed in a town in northern Italy bearing that name, and it is routinely recognized worldwide as an exemplary model for early childhood education. The foundation of this approach lies in the image of the child as unique, strong, curious and full of potential.

Communication & Documentation
At the Compass School, we recognize that outstanding communication is an essential component of a high-quality school experience for any parent. We utilize many communication channels to document and share information regarding each child’s social, emotional and cognitive development.

Environment
We strive to offer children a uniquely warm, inviting and child-centered school environment in which to explore, discover, and grow. Reggio-Inspired programs typically refer to the environment as the “third teacher,” and value its critical role in supporting and enhancing the learning journey.

In order to best serve the needs of our community, we offer a wide variety of program options for children from six weeks to twelve years of age. In addition to our full-time programs, parents can select part-time schedules for their infants, toddlers, two-year-old’s, preschoolers, or school-age children.

Program offerings and/or age ranges may vary slightly depending on the state in which you live. Please contact The Compass School nearest you for exact information regarding program age requirements and offerings. Thank you for your interest!
