It’s the last quarter for my kids at school, and our attention is already turning to summer planning–—day trips, adventures with friends, time at the pool, and a few baseball games.

Part of our planning includes some great summertime reads for every member of the family. If you have a tween in your house who loves adventure, you may want to look at this new exciting sequel in the best-selling Pandava series from Rick Riordan Presents.

In Aru Shah and the Song of Death by Roshani Chokshi, Aru is learning how to be a Pandava warrior. On top of that, she is accused of stealing the god of love's bow and arrow. In order to prove her innocence, she must navigate the serpent realm with her best friend, Mini, and two new companions, one of whom is a BOY!

Like the Rick Riordan books that inspired it, Roshani's series is rooted in mythology. In Aru Shah and the Song of Death, she explores characters and themes from timeless Hindu stories.

Along with the fascinating background of Indian-American culture, here’s a quick look at what else your child can expect in this fast-paced adventure:

  • A character who is not perfect, but has relatable flaws, including stretching the truth (Does that sound like any child you know?!)
  • Strong female characters who show bravery and the power of friendship
  • A hint of romance with the addition of a male character

Aru Shah and the Song of Death is now available at your favorite book retailer.

Here’s to a summer full of making wonderful new friends–both real and fictional!
