Great Playgrounds in Naperville 2023

By Mary Anne Plauda April 18, 2023

We are lucky in Naperville to have so many great playgrounds and parks to explore. From swings to slides to climbing walls and water features, Naperville parks and playgrounds keep my kids active, are a great place to meet old friends (and make new friends), and they're FREE!

I often get asked what playgrounds there are, so I thought I'd share a few here with you so you can plan your visit to one of Naperville's parks.

Locations are listed alphabetically and construction sites are noted. Enjoy!

The 95th Street Community Plaza was constructed on land at Frontier Sports Complex, adjacent to the 95th Street Library. The project has been supported in partnership with the Naperville Park District, Naperville Public Library, and Indian Prairie School District 204. The mission of the project is to encourage nearby students and residents of all ages and abilities to get outdoors, communicate and socialize with one another, and enjoy the many benefits of active and passive recreation in a beautiful campus setting.

Sensory Garden Playground

2751 Navistar Dr., Lisle, IL 60532

Amenities at Sensory Garden Playground:

The Sensory Garden Playground is a universally accessible playground nestled in the heart of DuPage County Forest Preserve’s Danada South area and developed by the Play for All Playground & Garden Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization.

The Play for All Playground & Garden Foundation set out to build a place where all children can play side by side because we believe inclusive play matters. We believe programs need to meet the diverse needs of all community members with or without disabilities. At the Sensory Garden Playground, you’ll find a play space hidden away in the trees that are designed to help kids develop and have fun; learn to take turns, and play alongside a new friend.

The Sensory Garden Playground offers something for all the senses–seeing, hearing, touching, and smelling. Like the scent of the herbs in the fragrance garden, the sound of children playing on the large drums and chimes in the sound garden, the feeling of roaring through the air on high-back swings, and the sight of families gathering together and encouraging cooperation, side-by-side play in the central gathering space.
