DuPage Children’s Museum Brings the World of The Questioneers to Life

New exhibit The Questioneers: Read. Question. Think. PLAY! to open to the public October 1st

September 22, 2021

DuPage Children’s Museum (DCM) announces the premier of its new exhibit – The Questioneers: Read. Question. Think. PLAY! Based on the best-selling series of books by author Andrea Beaty and illustrator David Roberts, the imaginative world of Questioneers characters Ada Twist, Scientist; Rosie Revere, Engineer; Iggy Peck, Architect; and Sofia Valdez, Future Prez comes alive in DCM’s exclusive exhibit. Celebrating diversity, creativity, curiosity, bravery and resilience, this exhibit will inspire a new generation of thinkers and dreamers through fun, interactive experiences.

DCM’s Chief of Building & Making Kimberly Stull remarked, “Like all readers of these fabulous books, the DCM team fell in love with Rosie Revere and all of the Questioneers characters. Each story highlights problem-solving, perseverance, risk-taking, bravery, and the role of caring adults in children's lives. These topics are the very core of children-- and adults --developing a lifelong love of learning and discovery.”

In the exhibit The Questioneers: Read. Question. Think. PLAY! questions are posed, challenges identified, and problem-solving begins. Miss Lila Greer’s classroom serves as a launching point for collaboration, curiosity, and creativity. Children will get to fly with Rosie in her Cheez ‘O Copter, question how the world works while sitting in Ada’s thinking chair, build a bridge to save the class with Iggy, and lead a movement with Sofia while playing a game on Sofia’s Citizen’s Park.

Ada, Iggy, Rosie and Sofia promote personal empowerment, curiosity, and perseverance. With different abilities, races, ethnicities, genders, and upbringings, each character is uniquely capable and committed to their creative, STEAM-based pursuits. Their passions lead them to experiment, explore, fail, and try again. Through these bold characters, young children learn that math, science, art, and civic responsibility are for everyone, and failure is part of learning.

“Between the stories and the illustrations, each book is rich with content and positive messaging,” offers Museum CEO, Andrea Wiles. “This exhibition demonstrates our commitment to inclusion while delivering exceptional, innovative Arts and STEM experiences for our guests. The experiences and related programs support the social emotional and cognitive development of learners by building the confidence, skills, and engagement of parents and caregivers.”

Author Andrea Beaty shared, “I have visited DuPage Children’s Museum with my family for almost 30 years. I am thrilled knowing that The Questioneers will come to life in this exhibit and inspire kids, young and young at heart, to share their curiosity and passion with others!”

Plan your visit to step into the world of The Questioneers! Admission to DuPage Children's Museum is $15 for adults and children age 1 and older, and $14 for seniors; free for members and children less than one year. Learn more at dupagechildrens.org/questioneers.

The Questioneers: Read. Question. Think. PLAY! exhibit was developed and created by DuPage Children’s Museum as a traveling exhibition. It will open at DCM in Naperville, and then it will journey around the country to other children’s museums, science centers, and libraries. Wiles shared, “DCM creates opportunities for joyful discovery! We are thrilled that the impact of this exhibit will reach children and families everywhere.”
