The world at Cosley Zoo will be bright with twinkling lights this year when the 2022 Festival of Lights begins on November 25 and continues through December 30.
Come out and experience a magical display of lights, including a herd of whimsical lighted animal figures. More than 20,000 lights will glow daily, beginning at 3 p.m. Enjoy the holiday-inspired view along with the zoo’s resident animals as they play, rest and forage. Deer, goats, owls, llamas, and lynx are just a few of the animal species that call the Cosley Zoo home.
A jaunt down Christmas Tree Lane, where trees decorated by local families and organizations light the way, is sure to make your visit even more memorable.
Visitors to Cosley Zoo will discover a large selection of Christmas trees (more than 2,400!) for sale during the holiday season. Pick out your favorite tree and bring it home to decorate! Wreaths and other decorative items will be available for purchase, too.
There will be hot chocolate and cookies available for purchase from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
And if you really want to get into the holiday spirit, take a stroll through the Wild Side Gift Shop and find the perfect gifts for your friends and family. They’ll love you for it and so will the animals! All proceeds from the Festival of Lights and Christmas Tree Sale benefit Cosley Zoo.
During the festival, the zoo will be open, free of charge, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily with a few exceptions. The zoo will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. It will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. While there is no general admission charge during the Festival of Lights and Tree Sales, donations are appreciated.
If you’d like to have a personal visit with Santa himself, that can be arranged when the zoo presents Santa’s Craft Corner from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 26, Dec. 3, and Dec. 10. Santa will meet with kids on second floor of the zoo’s large barn. Crafts and refreshments will be available. There is an admission charge of $20 per household for this event due at the door.
