What's going on with all these teeth?? When do they fall out? When is that new tooth going to come in? With mixed dentition, it's hard to keep track of all the teeth coming and going. Here is a chart to give you an idea of what is going on. Under the "Eruption" column, you can see when teeth generally come in as a baby or toddler. Then, under the "Shedding" column, you can see when kids usually lose those baby teeth. Remember each child is different and this timeline is just an estimation.
When the permanent teeth grow and begin to erupt, it causes the root of the baby tooth to dissolve which makes the tooth loose. Once this happens, it can take a few days to a few months before the tooth actually falls out. You should always encourage your kids to wiggle away and help them understand that it is normal and healthy for baby teeth to become loose. This encouragement will hopefully keep them from becoming fearful of losing teeth. They should also continue to brush their loose teeth like normal, otherwise, excessive plaque can form on the baby tooth and cause the tissue to get irritated, as well.
Once a baby tooth is lost, the permanent replacement can take up to six months to come in, so don't worry if it does not show up immediately.
